The Idea Boost Machine – New features

Behind the scenes #2 | New features

We noticed something. A tiny flaw in the system that is keeping you from acting on your ideas and transforming them into sideprojects.

There are a lot of great ideas on this list. But, some of them have been there for quite some time. Shining, but nothing is happening. And that is not what ideas are made for in our dreams. Ideas are here to be executed, to start, to be built. To take actions and see how they work out, that’s what it’s about!

Connect with other nomads so ideas don’t stay ideas, but grow into a side project with diverse expertise.

That is why we want to help you, motivate you to make your ideas happen. Even faster. On our Trello development board it is called ‘time restriction for ideas’ but I would rather refer to it with this fancy name:

‘The Idea Boost Machine’.

What is The Idea Boost Machine?

Simply said, you can post your idea as you are used to, but it will not be in the listing FOREVER. Just two weeks. We found that 2 weeks is the ideal amount of time to find your partner in crime.

This is optimal to research skills and to see if you find someone who you wants to work with you. After those 2 weeks, your idea will be removed from the listing.

But… how will I find someone in 2 weeks?

We decided that we should help you more to get your idea started. That is why we will actively promote your idea on NomadProjects, Twitter and send emails to possible matches, to make it easier for you to find that skilled nomad you want to work with.

This doesn’t mean you can relax…as we encourage you to do the same! As it is your idea, your dream. Promote your idea on websites such as Reddit, Google plus, Hacker news, Designer news and Slashdot.

Search for nomads with the right skills and ask them if they’d be interested in joining your idea. Because if you dont, your idea will be removed after 2 weeks! 😉

And the result…

To make sure more ideas make it to sideprojects! This is why we started NomadProjects in the first place. Our aim is to get as many of you to post ideas and actually start awesome sideprojects from these ideas. Collaborate, build, ship.

Why will we implement it?

– Help nomads actually launch their idea.
– More variation in new ideas.
– Solution to the problem: “I want to publish more ideas” (you have 2 weeks to test it. Doesn’t work? Next).
– More promotion for new ideas.

What do you think about it?

So, now we are curious: what do you think about it? Will it help you to start your side project quicker? Let us know.
